Today I learned a few interesting insights about the bioscience industry and how companies fail early in the biotech space. The top reason is that it is easy to get sidetracked but being in a company setting means being able to cut projects fast and not drain valuable resources. Unlike academia you can’t pursue every interesting side project and instead must stay focused on the company goal. The other pitfall is not being in a novel space. So make sure to do your research early so you know your therapeutic has a place in the market. Finally, even as an early stage biotech it is essential to be able to look far down the road and understand how you will get your therapeutic to market.
